Dining set

By lainhart, 18 August, 2011
Description

Ornate antique dining set.  Has buffet that has three drawers and two side storage areas.  The table comes with two leafs and 6 chairs, one of them is the captians chair that has arms.  The leafs are in much better condition as they have hardly been used.  It's in fair condition but very beautiful.  I bought it at a yard sale about a year ago and the man did not know much about it other than it was his mothers.  I no longer have the room for it and need to sell it but would like to know what it is worth.

Re: Dining set

Looks like it might be a Lamberts set from the 40's.  Are there any markings under the table?  Lambert's was an old furniture manufacturer in St. Louis. I believe they started sometime in the 30's.  In St. Louis you might get 200-250 for it based on it's condition.  It's pretty rough and needs a fair amount of work.  In a larger city on one of the coasts you might get a couple hundred more for it possibly.

Re: Dining set

Sets like this were generic, made by large numbers of companies centered in Grand Rapids Michgan up until the 1930's. Values for sets like this 'In the rough" often sell for less than $500.00.
