Solid wood (oak I think) dining table that can be expanded to seat aprox 12 people. Table does not have the original leaves. The set, which in inherited from my parents; comes with 4 matching Stratford company chairs and 2 matching HFC Co. chairs. Not sure what HFC stands for but it is stamped on the bottom of each. All 6 chairs have been rebuilt (reglued) by a furniture maker (but not reapolstered)
The Table is in quite good condition. Intricate carvings in excellent shape. Table opens very smoothly and solidly. The metal locks (when table is closed) work.
Style of table legs sit on wheels. Originally they were probably metal. They have been since replaced with plastic ones.
All in all very nice looking set. I was considering selling it in order to have some more space.
Thanks in advance for your opinions!
Graham
Re: Dining table with 6 Stratford Chairs
The table dates from the turn of the 19th Century, the chairs from the 1920's - 30's. At auction theses days the set would go for about $300.00. Demand for sets like this peaked in the early 1990's.
