Re: Dragon Tea Cup & Saucer
I just lost my cup and saucer which my mother left me, when a bear broke into my house last Saturday. . It was just like this one, only darker. It originally belonged to very dear friends of my mother's, and they were in their late 90s. I need to know how much it was worth. It has completely disappeared, and I need to know for insurance purposes. Can anyone help me with an appraisal?

that kind of porcelain is called moriage, it is commonly called dragonware, the picture in the bottom is a lithopane, usually geishas , two different nudes that i know of. that cup and saucer on ebay would bring between fifteen and thirtyfive dollars. i would put its value at least thirty five dollars. i have seen the nudes bring as much as 120.00 at live auction. some of them are nippon , most are from the forties and fiffties i believe though it is still being made today.
