Drexel "Thunderbird" child's bedroom set

This four piece child's bedroom set includes a dresser, desk, headboard and chair. This set was made by the American furniture manufacturer Drexel. It is constructed of solid hard celtis wood. The set was purchased new in 1955 and has been in the same family since. The construction is all solid mortis and tenon, and dovetailed drawer joinery. The pieces have been well used and have stood the tests of time extremely well.

The Thunderbird children's furniture line made use of stylized carving which the owner could paint using paint kits ordered separately from Drexel. This set received that treatment shortly after it was originally purchased. (See photo.)
