History
The author, from what I have been able to find, was born August 31, 1870 in Chiaravalle, March (a providence of Italy), and died in the Netherlands. When she was five, her family moved to Rome, Italy; where in 1896 she became the first woman to graduate with a degree in Medicine from the University of Rome.

She is particularly renowned for her education teachings on child development, which this book contains. The great theme of the writings of Montessori is "the child builds the man."

Accoridng to the articles written in Spanish, this is information about the book. "Two. READ ON TEXT

In his book "The child, childhood secret," Montessori stresses the need for a scientific understanding of the soul of the child, but rejects the idea that knowledge is to be rigid and mechanical to be a scientist.

The teacher should be a scientist and mystic, if you want to be discovered the secret of childhood and wise guide its development.

This expresses M. Montessori: "We try to instill in the same soul, the spirit of sacrifice Scientist rough and ineffable ecstasy of the mystic, and have perfectly prepared the master's spirit."

IDEAS ARISING FROM THE TEXT:

The child is a particular being qualitatively different from the adult.

The child has some energies that tend to self-development.

The child has a deep love pure and lacks toughness and calculations (this is his fundamental difference with adult).

The adult may not improperly intervene in child development as it can override their innate purpose.

With finely selected materials and arranged for each direction directly sought education of the senses and intelligence, and indirectly, to prepare for learning the basic elements of culture, such as the techniques of reading, writing and calculation.

The adult must give up their own needs and adapt to the conditions of the child, to help their purposes.

The adult does not understand and has no notion of the child's motor activity is limited to prevent this activity."

For those who understand Spanish this is the only information I can glean: http://html.rincondelvago.com/el-nino_el-secreto-de-la-infancia_maria-montessori.html

Also Montessori has a school dedicated to her philosophy and educates children in her birth town:http://www.chiaravalle.org
