This ELGIN pocket watch belongs to a friends grandfather. he wants to sell it to me but I wanted to find an approximate value. don't know much about the history. I've just become interested in ELGIN pocket watches and want to begin collecting them. The watch is not in working condition, but it looks like the repairs would be routine for an old watch. it will not wind any further. it almost seems like it was over wound. The front cover is hazy and is made of plastic, not glass. I would love to know the value now. As well as the value If I were to get the watch in working condition, and the front glass replaced. I've been told the only important factor in identifying an antique ELGIN is the number inside the watch, above the gears. this # is 34055806
