This ink well is mysterious in that I have found nothing of its shape and design. Each side panel is embossed with a 'woven basket weave' design.
The top of this piece is 'collared' into 3 sections and slants slightly upward towards the spout/mouth which rests on the edge of the square.
It is unmarked, with no pontil mark. Contains air bubbles and lots of 'erratic' marks and lines in the glass and on the surface of the glass.
It measures roughly 3" x 3 1/2" x 3" and is a bit weighty for its size.
The pictures were taken in direct sunlight so the color is a bit off. It is perhaps a sapphire blue or a light cobalt blue.
The bottom is very slightly concave in the center and is smooth.
ANY information on this piece would be truly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Kim

Re: Embossed Glass Ink Well in Sapphire Blue
While very pretty, my opinion is that it's likely a reproduction. The seam through the lip indicates that it was made in an automatic bottle machine which was invented in 1903. Hope this info is helpful.
Re: Embossed Glass Ink Well in Sapphire Blue
These are not rare, the seam does indicate a production date post 1900. These can often be found in $10.00 boxlots of oddds and ends at auctions.
Re: Embossed Glass Ink Well in Sapphire Blue
bottle is probably made after 1915. it looks the color of the wheaton bottles and is a reprodution . it may be worth abiut 3-7$ as a reprodution in. the color is still nice. it really only has a display value not a real collector value.
Re: Embossed Glass Ink Well in Sapphire Blue
probaly made around the 1970s . because of the color of the glass. youll notice a lot of the wheaton bottles are thiscolor. the bottle from this period that are reprodutions seem to be getting more collectable. they even now hav a wheaton collectors club.
