lusterware... "occupied japan or made in japan" on bottom, if so it is WWII era made in japan, beautiful. your neighbor may have brought it back from WWII as a gift.

Anything market Japan is going to post date 1921, pieces made directly after WW2 generally are marked "Occupied Japan" until about 1952. Not much value on it's own, whole sets often go for less than $100.00.
