Escritoire / Bureau with lovely wood detailing and hidden compartments

By Gladbead, 16 May, 2016
Description

This escritoire / bureau belonged to my grandmother, who passed in 1990. I don't know where or when she acquired it. By the decorative style, I was thinking perhaps it was made in the 1940s? But I have no idea at all.

Height: 37"
Width: 26"
Depth: 15.5"

Ups:

Three drawers

Fold down desk

Removable top section with cubbies, drawers, and HIDDEN COMPARTMENTS (see photo-4, the vertical cubby walls pull out to reveal hidey-slots).

Lovely wood detailing

Solid, old-timey construction (eg, dovetail joins in the drawers)

Downs:

Lots of scratches and staining here and there

Some wood damage on feet and on bottom decoration

Drawer knobs are damaged

Thank you very much for any information and opinions you can offer. I'm looking to sell this eventually, and just want to find out a ballpark of what I should ask for it.

Thank you!
