F B Rogers tea set

By mitzimouse1, 6 December, 2009
Description

We are just curious to see if this is silver or silverplate. From what we have read about the company, I believe it is probably silverplate, but I was always under the impression that anything that was silverplate had to be marked as such. Some of the other pieces left behind were marked "silverplate" but this set is just stamped "F.B. Rogers." There are no chips or dents, just needs a good cleaning.

Re: F B Rogers tea set

I think the reverse is true. If the set was sterling it would be marked as such. You should assume it's plated. The value then falls to the rarity of the production. Sorry I don't have knowledge of current prices of newer sets. Sets from that time should be researchable. Maybe the company's web site. Good Luck.
