Fire Mark - Insurance Company of North America - 1830

By FunBobbyMarley, 29 October, 2009
Description

It is oval, about 11" tall x 8.5" wide, and heavy like cast iron. On the front is a gold colored Eagle standing on what could be a cloud or a bush. The eagle design is raised from the background and painted gold. Raised letters on back read: "Facsimile of Ins. Co. of N.A. Fire Mark Issued in 1830". There are two holes for mounting, one at the top and one at the bottom. The front edge has a sort of raised beaded edge to it.

Ultimately I would be interested in selling it once I learn about it.

Values for reproduction fire marks are relatively modest as they remain in production to this day. Examples of varying quality routinely sell on Ebay
on a regular basis for under $20.00.
