Beautiful carvings, ornate details. Fabric is worn and needs reupholsery. I've seen similar furniture online, some claiming to date from the 1890's. Others have listed as reproductions from the 30-50's. I'm curious if I have an actual antique or a quality reproduction.
I've removed a corner of upholstery on the back of the chair, and it appears to be the original upholstery as there are no tack/staple holes except for the staples I pulled out, leading me to believe that it may well be a reproduction.
I'd love to know the value and/or origin and any other details one may have regarding this type of furniture. I'd also like to be able to tell people "oh, it's ___type______ furniture from ____ date __" rather than the vague answer I have for them now.
