Futon??

Description

I purchased this from a store in Indiana that is no longer in business. It originally was covered with leather, but the owners wife reupholstered it. The armrests are 100% adjustable and the back can be removed. I'm guessing it was made in the 1920s and was considered a futon (???). I tried doing research on it and got pretty much nowhere fast. Any help on the style, worth, proper name, would be greatly appreciated.
