Hand Blown Punch bowl with 24kt Gold Trim with 10 cups and Ladel

This was my husband's great uncle's punch bowl set who was a Colonel in the military and he was a very promenate man.  We know that Senators and the like have dined using this set.  His uncle might have even bought it out of the country or a governor official might have given it to them as a gift.  For all we know the president could have given it to him because he was such an important man.  Some of the gold is worn from use but I do not see any flaws.  I asked my uncle about these pieces because he has collected glass for many years and he said that it looks like depression glass from 20's - 40's era and that it is 24kt. Gold rimmed.
 If anyone has any info please let us know.  We have searched and searched to no avail on the net for info.   Thanks
