I have almost the EXACT same coffee table but it is carved in a slightly different image on the top and mine has glass. I have papers dating mine from the 1800's - I think the quote that they were made in the 1950's may be a little off but I am not an expert.

I just re-read your post - my table legs do not screw on, my table is one solid piece, so that is also a difference.

Those hand carved Japanese tables are my dream. When I first downloaded a couple of photos from search http://bytesland.com I can say I fell in love with them. The work is so exquisite. I can't take my eyes off the tables. Would like to have one with pleasure.
