I have 2 old silver picture frames with circular brush strokes on the back of the oval frame. Both holds pictures 4.75 x 6.5, but frames are larger. It looks as though these frames came from a mold. One has leaves around the top of the frame and the other has a raised unique design. One is oval and one is square.
The square one has a hand engraved marking on the lower left back corner 10 11; the oval has a hand engraved marking 10/17 along with SS. There are some flaws in the carvings and also where the picture is inserted is not straight and the oval one is not perfectly shaped, but not noticeable, probably 1/2 thick or more. If anyone has any clue where these may have came from I would really appreciate any help you may have to offer. My mother gave these to me decades ago and I have no clue where she got them.
There are several irregularities in the designs of both frames when examined closely. The oval one has what appears to be brush strokes on both front and circular strokes on the back along with some raised areas.. The dates are hand engraved, like someone puts there mark on ceramic's. From what I can tell there are some other markings on the back of the oval frame, I just can't make them out. I would love to find out their origin and date range and also what the design is on the oval raised design on the frame.
Thanks in advance for your time.
