Re: homer laughlin ,china

Well it depends on the buyer, I was at an auction last night and took 22pcs Virginia Rose (average to poor shape) for $5.00.

You can contact the house and verify that sale.

The pieces I have found have more money in them if you can sell within a local market, the costs of shipping and handling and insurance add a "weighted cost" to items such as these. (excuse the pun)

That said: A large complete set in excellent to good condition, and I'm picky about quality, sells at a price mark the buyer can understand. I ask $365.00 in non-internet sales unapologetically. At a dollar a day the buyer wants to buy the set this year or they do not. I sell and move items at this price point easily.

My sets all as a generalization have more than one serving bowl. In addition two platters. I sell with set count 13 so that there can be an equitable distribution to children or family, in effect the set can be divided to short-set.

In addition some china doesn't sit well with other china, I mean that a very busy noritake pattern often doesn't sit next to another era or "theme" of pattern. As an example, a "wheat theme" pattern sits well with wheat.

People who are looking to build a set to a larger holding will often look to buy additional platters and serving bowls. Selling online you can match pieces by buying or matching sets. But unless you have some booth space, display the key pieces and one setting and enumerate the items, it is hit and miss on the internet. If you want to pursue that line of sale you need patience and "storage."

I offer that advice under the understanding that there will always be another auction, another seller, another buyer, and more china. I sell these as "estate sets." No I'm not interested, I genuinely have over 120 pieces of "Vrgina Rose" which is shape and not a pattern myself in a dedicated cabinet. I added four pieces last night.

Re: homer laughlin ,china

Have patience my Dear. :) Could take weeks for anyone to get to you. Most things on here are easily searchable on Google or other search engines you just have to be persistent. OK so here is what I found.......

http://www.replacements.com/webquote/hlccri.htm?s1=ink&14646&

Manufacturer Status: Circa: 1956

Replacements Ltd. values are a bit high but I found another site that sold them for about the same. You wouldn't be able to sell it for that on say Ebay or such places.

There are 22 listings for this pattern on Ebay today at about half the cost of the site I linked here. But yes it has value.

Nice set.
