Hooker and Bassett Furniture Company Dinning Room Set

By Shelton21491, 9 February, 2009
Description

This set was purchased in a antique shop in East Tennessee. the origional sticker price was $1900.00. The item had been marked down and the dealer accepted an offer of $1300. The furniture had a signifigant amount of dust and dirt on it as pictured. I have only noted one small chip in the vaneer of the buffett, not sure but hardware apears origional. The table shows years of wear with some minor scuffs and scratches but no major damage. The leaf to the table fold down under the table. 3 of the six chairs have a aged brown label attached with some type of nail or tack reading "Hooker & Bassett Furniture Co. Wilmington Virginia. The words S Tinnenbaum & Co. are embossed on the label, and hand written on the backside of the cupboard. 3 of the chairs have the origional covering visible with te remainder looking as though they have been recovered a few times. We really like the furniture but I am currious if the age is correct, we paid a fair price, and the signifigance of any of the Tinnenbaum and Co. on the labels.
