I found this at an estate auction in Goodman, Mo near Neosho, mo and was interested in what i need to do to better preserve it, as well as receive a monetary worth of this piece of correspondence. I found it very cool that in what appears to be a letter to perhaps an old hometown friend that their talking about cars. Then as I started to delve into his history what a remarkable life he lived.
*3rd person after the Wright Brothers to fly.
*Invented the Tailhook System that made it feasible to land aircraft on Ships. (As, a Navy Guy that is perhaps overlooked in importance)
*Demonstrated for military leaders the 'Dive Bombing' advantages a airplane could have in warfare.
