I need help identifying a small wooden item circa 1873 Looks like a type of writing slope...

Description Solid oak wooden writing slope or machine circa 1873. Small oak wood (8' tall X 12" wide X 5.5" deep), 2 rubber rollers, brass hardware, marked: PAT'D MAY 13 1873 PLEASE NOTE IN PICTURES: PICTURE # 2 It is hard to see #2 but attached to each side in the back it has a piece of small brass wire that can be leveraged against one of the inside rubber rollers. I think this is used to prevent the rollers from moving and holding the paper still. PICTURE # 4 The two brass clips on each side of the arm enable you to slide the wooden slat open (making a small window to view paper) or closed (blocking view of paper) I have more pictures available if needed...just send request to me at: [email protected] Thank you very much for any information (even guesses) you may have.
