Re: Iowa hawkeyes 1950's Herky the hawk bank
This is a Nile Kinnick (#24) Herky the Hawk die-cast bank.
Nile Kinnick won the 1939 Heisman Trophy playing college football at the University of Iowa. During WW2 he was a US Navy aviator and died during a training flight. In 1972 the University of Iowa renamed their football stadium Kinnick Stadium in his honor.
Recently specimens of this bank have sold for $70-80.
