ln mint condition, similar platters are commanding $60-80 on ebay. I can't see the damage on this one so can't say how much it will bring down the value.

FIsh,

I have to kindly disagree with you. :)

Platters this size in mint condition are 250-300$. They are very hard to find,  heck I have seen many in retail stores that are chipped, stained and cracked for $200.00 !! LOL

I literally laughed out loud last time I came across a "stack" of blue and white platters 8 or 9 high......  lady must have thought I was a nut.  She wanted 200+ for her cracked platters !! None of them were rare makers either.

It depends where you go and what day it is but once and a while you find something mint for little cash, thats my kind of day.

If you look at my picture you will see one of my best buys, the Willow platter I paid 25$ for. It doesnt have a scratch on it, 1 very slight stain on the back,  18x14 inch. by Adams 1899. That was a happy day !

I have been collecting Willow and blue/ white for 30 years, 99% of it is English , I have over 250 pieces as of now, gotta stop, I have no more room.

Have a great day !

HI,

J. Clementson was a potter in Shelton, Hanley in Staffordshire  from 1839-1864. The bird is a Phoenix and the area he was located was called Phoenix works. After 1864  it was called Clementson Brothers.

Platters this size are hard to find in very good condition (TRUST ME !)  I have a few  :)

In very good condition you could get as much as $300.00 to the right person. Sadly you might get $50.00 because of the crack and discoloration.

Also the wire hanger you have on the plate is not good for the platter.  It stresses the platter and will cause any cracks to grow. :(

Have a good day !

Thanks for the additional info, Kathy. It certainly is a nice looking piece. As a collector of a few things myself, I understand the interpreted value can vary from person to person and from day to day, certainly it also must be noted that my numbers reflect auction values as opposed to retail (store) prices. The numbers I provided were simply recent completed ebay auctions for works by the same maker, wheras Kathy has been collecting for years and knows what someone will pay for a prime example in the right setting.

Anywho, thanks for sharing

Here are a few pieces with the same design motif, a plate and a jug, both failed to sell unfortunately.
