Description

This is a Japanese storage or travel trunk, possibly used for a dowry. It has reinforced corners and hardware front and back that a pole went through, I'm guessing for two men to carry it. (?) Needs some restoration, especially the underside of the lid, but sound.

The front and the top of the lid has a symbol.

Medium hardware is a metal. I'm not sure what the actual box is. Possibly thin wood with a waxed textile on it and lacquered?
