J.B.VanSciverCo

By jbvansciver, 2 March, 2012
Description

May be interested in selling after I know more about these vintage items: J. B. Van Sciver petite armoire 52 1/2'' height, 40 3/8'' wide, 21 1/4'' deep; condition is probably appropriate for its age and use, as it has been used plenty over the years. Pieces are well worn with a lot of character, charm, and gold trim has a really nice patina; The Gold raised ornate trim or carving on the front of pieces are made of the same wood also. Wardrobe inside has 5 pull out drawers, and a pull out for hanging clothes...unsure if this is orig to this peice or if someone installed it. The matching dresser has three small drawers on top, and in the right drawer, there is a wood jewelry insert tray and part of it is lined with velvet / two large drawers. This wardrobe and dresser is very heavy and only easily moved on hardwood flooring as it will not roll easily on carpet. Inside drawers are deep dark wood (looks like it could be mahogany or curly maple?) However, perhaps just dark because of age; Both pieces are on casters/rollers. Front legs on both peices are more curvy while back legs are more of a tapered straight line (back legs look like 1940's furniture); Inside drawers are dark wood, dovetailed. It is very simple yet elegant design.
