Description
I have a dining set that has a table that is 42" x 105" with 2 added leaves. Without the leaves it is 42" x 73". It has 6 chairs - 4 side chairs and 2 captain chairs. It is in good condition except that the finish is in need of being redone on the table. There are a few nicks/scratches here and there, but overall it is really nice table. It has a stamping on each end of the table where the leaves are inserted that says: Jefferson Slide Table - The Jefferson Woodworking Co - Louisville, KY. It is extremely heavy and sturdy. The chairs have a wicker type of seat, but they are covered right now with a cushion and material. I was wondering if anyone had any information on this table's value and year it was built? Thanks so much!
Re: Jefferson Woodworking Co Dining Set 42"x105"
The Jefferson Woodworking Company was known for its production of tables up until about the 1960's. From what I have seen online Jefferson made the slides for a lot of other manufactures so the "slide" label is only for the actual part that moves the leaves. I am assuming they made tables as a whole too. Is there any other makers mark on the table?
Lovejoy is the furniture guy on here, he apparently goes to auctions and is up on furniture. There are several posts on this site abut Jefferson tables and they seem to average about $400.00. Search on here for the table maker and see what you think. Lovejoy will hopefully see this and comment on my "guess". :)
Re: Jefferson Woodworking Co Dining Set 42"x105"
This is a Colonial Revival style suite. Jefferson primarily made parts for furniture such as table extention sliders, they went out of business during the 1990's. This suite looks a lot like examples that were made right up until the 1980's. Value wise, $350.00-$700.00 at auction these days.
