I've no knowledge about furniture, so any information would be a great help.
This is, as should be obvious from the pictures, a child's rocking chair. I can't find a scrap of identifying information anywhere on the chair; for all I know, it's one of a kind, hand made. The decorations, painted in red and green, are similar to illustrations you'd find in a children's book. The green leather seat is well-attached and in excellent condition.
There are a couple of condition notes:
1) The joint of the right rear leg and its runner has been reinforced with a pair of flat braces on either side of the runner.
2) There is a crack in the wood at the back of the seat at the top of that leg (see picture below). Visually unappealing but in no danger of coming apart.
But to me, all of this suggests that Junior really loved his chair, perhaps even when he was getting too big for it....
At first glance, I wasn't all that taken with this chair, but it's very charming. It's rustic, and the nursery rhyme book decorations speak of a sweet innocence and playfulness.
I filed this in "American Furniture" but to be honest, I've no idea of its origin. I'm a bit boggled that I can't find any sort of mark on it whatsoever.
Thank you for any input!
