Though I have a great deal of information on this piece, I still cannot find the actual model, nor get any idea of how much it is worth.
The piece was produced by Lane Furniture, I believe, in 1979. The maker's mark is intact, and lists it as Style No. 920 27 and serial number 4970311.
The table itself is 37.5" wide by 37.5" long, and 17" high. To my eyes, the intense variation in the grain of the main horizontal panels suggests walnut, and in several places where the finish has been chipped off, the wood beneath appears quite pale. The finish is roughly 0.5mm thick, comes off in distinct small chips, and is deliberately flecked with much darker and more opaque brown spots and streaks, as if splattered by a brush. These are most evident on the sides of the piece. Each leg terminates in a square brass rectangle that encloses the bottom of the leg where it meets the floor, and this enclosure is kept in place with a single, round-headed brass pin of 1mm diameter on each side of the leg. Above, a brass L-shape is bound just above the leg where it attaches to the horizontal surface of the table, and is fastened in a similar fashion. Each vertical side of the tabletop itself has a centrally-positioned brass handle. All brass fittings appear to be deliberately splattered with a similar brown coating to simulate tarnish. The piece is quite heavy, sturdy, and appears well-constructed. Though in far from perfect condition, I am curious what exactly it is, and what it would be worth if it were undamaged.
