Description
This is a very large, very heavy vase marked HAND PAINTED NIPPON. The mark is a heart inside of which is printed E80. The vase stands 16 3/8" tall and is heavy at approximately 5 lbs. Other Nippon I have collected has been light and delicate, but that is not the case with this piece. The floral design and trim are thickly beaded. One handle is not smoothly attached. It does not appear to have been broken but rather the glaze somehow might not have covered the joint when it was being fired. I am not sure.
I said it is in excellent condition because there is slight wear to the paint at the top edge...very minor. Otherwise it is in mint condition.
This piece belonged to my grandmother who died in 1966. It could have belonged to her mother before that. I would like to know its value and approximate age as well as any other info a ready may be able to give me.
