When it comes to art, the best thing to do is to contact your local museum or go to library

and check out books on French Artists of the 19th Century. Your work may be listed there.

Christie's New York will gladly look at your painting without charging you, if it is something that

they deal in and they very much deal in 19th Century French Paintigs. Don't be shy, but make sure

you contact the person in charge of their European Collection. What ever you do, do not sell it

without a proper appraisal from a reputable Appraiser. You could also join an Art Community, such as AskArt.com and pay their monthly fee ($29.95) and you can place a Free Ad with them and see what response you receive. Just remember to check out who ever is offering to buy it off you.

Don't ship your painting off to anyone for a closer inspection, unless it is a reputable Museum, or Auction House.

Good Luck,

Carmen
