Description We purchased a group of Margaret Whittemore prints and this was among them.  Wondered if the lithograph was done by her.  The original sketch was done by William M. Merrick and published in Harper's Weekly in 1866.  Under the picture it is written in pencil Commercial Street, Atchinson, Kans.  That is the way Whittemore prints are marked but this is not signed and the other prints are.  I looked up Merrick and found that he lived in the Atchinson area in 1866 and had 4 sketches published in Harper's Weekly during this time.  Other than that I couldn't find out much more about him.
