The photos probably tell more than I could describe of this lamp. The lamp was made or originally comissioned by the Marbro Lamp Company of Los Angeles, CA. This company was bought & merged several times until it seems to have been absorbed and closed by a company (I've forgotten the name) that makes ornate mirrors & continues to sell medium/high end home furnishings.
I could not find any evidence of existing catalogs or records of Marbro lamps and the last known history of this lamp is documented by the reciept of it's purchase from a San Francisco antique dealer (as recorded in one of the included photographs).
The only blemish of note is shown on the edge of the base where the finish (probably black paint) has been chipped off. The body & legs appear to be of a casting of a bronze like metal. There is no sign of corrossion, tarnish, repair or discoloration on the lamps body. There is some very slight coppery highlights on the surface of the body which may have been present when the lamp was made or may be the result of cleaning over many years.
The owner is interested in selling it, possibly on eBay, and would like to have an estimate of it's likely value in todays market.
