We found 2 dolls at an auction. They have handwritten papers dated 1977. From what I have found out Martha Nelson is the inspiration for Cabbage Patch kids. She inspired the creator of Cabbage Patch Kids, but was not given any credit and did nothing to protect her creation. She sued and lost in the 80's.
These 2 dolls are in generally good shape without tears or stains. They both have what appear to be original outfits and do not seem to have really been played with. They have some discoloration from age. The larger one has a rigid frame under the soft body so does not at the waist or knees.
The papers are handwritten. The front has a message in a childs handwriting. The back has a Martha Nelsons address and signature. The name tags both say 'This is an original Martha Nelson Doll Baby (or Doll Kid)'
I can find some of her stuff from the 80's and it doesn't seem to have much value, but I am hoping these from the 70's are more interesting.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
