Description

Two bronze statues approx 6-7" one bears the inscription 'SOSIAS' the other 'MERCURIS" both inscribed with the artist's name 'MEGRET' on the base.

I have done some research and Megret is a neoclassical artist from France (1829-1911).  The statues represent a tale named Amphitryon from Greek Mythology.  Megret himself is best known for another work 'The Bust of Richard Cobden' and that isreally all I know.  I have found articles about his personal life and some of the books he has written.
