Mid Century Armillary-Atlas / Spheres

Profile picture for user DeeDee66

Description

This came from an Estate sale featuring only mid-century items ( 1930's-1960's) - Atlas ( classical figure) holding 3 spheres - besides decoration - practical use would be as a sundial

It is an outdoor / garden decoration - made of iron-copper-brass(?) - probably around 1950

weighs about 12 lbs - Meas approx -27" H x 171/2 W (sphere)  arrow - 32"

Has wonderful patina and is great condition - 2 bolt holes on base  - might have been bolted to a pedestal

No signatures  - only marks are rays (3) on each side above Atlas  - I have seen these marks on Armillaries made in Sweden  - but this one does not have any " Made in.."

The design is based on a Sune Rooth ( Swedish industrial designer from early part of century) Armillary - I have seen her sign. on other Armillaries exactly like this (originals)

I have done as much research as I could - the prices for this particular design / condition have ranged from $350 - 5000 (on a pedestal) - one like this -exact design sold on ebay for about $1400.....

I would like to sell it but don't know where to start and cannot find out if this one was made in Sweden / USA ???  Original but not signed?   This is really a great piece of Mid-century design and metalwork / sculpture
