Description

Has a stamp that says "Middletown Plate Co. Quadruple Plate" then it says "1899 Hard White Metal B.C." There is some kind of letter engraving on the handle, looks to be made by the manufacturer. I'm wanting to know the estimated value of this piece, if it is worth more than the dollar I paid for it.

Category Silver and Silver Overlay
Medium Quadruple Plate (Silver)
Distinguishing marks has the stamp logo of Middletown and has some engravings on the handle
Condition Fair
Size and dimensions of this item 8" tall (including handle) x 8.5" wide
Date Period 1899
Weight not sure, it's a bit heavy maybe 3-4 pounds
History I found this at a yardsale. Belonged to an old lady who recently passed away, she was 91. I assume she has had it for a while, perhaps it was an item passed down in her family.

A lot depends on how well your piece cleans up, if the plating is worn its value is about what you paid for it. Currently there is a great deal of this type of silver plate on the market a result of Baby Boomers inheriting their parents silverplate and then dumping it on the market. If your piece cleans up without any missing plate you might get about $45.00 for it.

Lovejoy
