Description

Looking for any information about a book I have Milton's Poetical Works There is no date anywhere in the book, so I'm not sure of the year. Published by Thomas Y. Crowell & Co. 13 Astor Place New York. I have attached 3 photo's of the book. It has a leather cover embossed with a bamboo type pattern on most of the front and all of the back cover of the book. On the front cover there is a triangle of the lower right corner that is embossed to look like tree bark. The front cover has embossed gold lettering that says Milton near the top and that's all. The spine also has embossed gold lettering at the top that says Milton's Poetical Works. It has 562 pages There are a few black/white illustrations in the book. These pages with illustrations are thicker than the other pages in the book. It has gilt edges and each page in the book has a red line border Example of some of the Contents: Sketch of the life of John Milton, Paradise Lost, Paridise Regained, Samson Agonistes, Poems of several occasions, Sonnets, Psalms and there are Latin Poems from page 508 to 562. It also has at the back of the book a list of Crowell's red line poets various books with the cost of each book. Those marked with an asterick (*) furnished in alligator leather. There are a few light pencil notes in the book. I would like to know the year and value of this book and any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, yakkydoodle
