Miniature school desk

Profile picture for user njkevin66

Description

This desk is very heavy it weighs about 10 lbs. the measurements are from front to back  11 inches. From bottom to top of desk is 8 3/4 inches. From bottom to top of back rest is 7 3/4 inches. From bottom to top of seat is 4 1/2 inches to front of seat and 4 1/8 inches to the back of seat. And the width is 7 3/4 inches for the desk and 7 inches on the seat. The angles on everything make it look like the real thing. The scroll work on the cast iron is very attractive. The oak wood appears to never had any type of finish on it the patina is really starting to make the oak look very attractive giving it a nice dark appearance. I took as many photos as I could to help you hopefully determine its age and what it was really made to be used for. There is a 7/8th inch hole for an inkwell and a slot for your pencil. On the cast there are #s one side has the # 15 and the other side has the # 18 the #s are imbedded in the iron but they look like hand writting not a perfect stencil. I will try to photograph them there hard though being black on black. Thank you for taking the time to help me answer the questions I have had about this beautiful piece of miniature furniture.
