Hello, I'm trying to get an idea of age and worth on this Pairpoint quadruple plate platter that was in a storage unit that my husband and I bought. The best I've been able to come up with after some research on the style of the marks is it's likely an earlier Pairpoint piece...possibly before the merger with the glass company. So best researched guess is 1880 - 1893/4 before they changed the name. Also, guessing, because it says "Sheffield" on it's possibly one of their reproductions of a Sheffield style/pattern? I don't know. I'm grasping at straws for age or worth. I'm not finding any marks in marketplaces that have had Pairpoint pieces that sold that look remotely like mine, so looking for assistance. Thanks in advance.
Re: Need an idea about Pairpoint platter/tray
Most of the pieces like this are late 19th Century, values depend almost entirely on how well the silver plate polishes up, as Pairpoint plating seems to have had problems with quality control. Sadly values for late 19th to early 20th Century silver plate by most makers has been in serious decline in recent years, with pieces of less than perfect plating being very hard to sell at any price.
