This beautiful and very rare antique salad plate is from the yacht "Victoria", (identified by Lloyd's Register of American Yachts in 1917), which was owned by Arthur Meeker . Arthur Meeker was a millionaire and also Vice President of the Armour & Company meatpacking plant in Chicago, Illinois in the early 1900s.
The plate measures almost 9" in diameter. At the top are the burgees of the New York Yacht Club - on the left, and Meeker's Victoria, on the right. The back of the plate is stamped "James M. Shaw & Co., New York, 1920, 8", and also "O.P. Co., Syracuse China" (Onondaga Pottery Company). There is a gold and burgundy band around the top edge of the plate, and a thin gold band nearer the center.
Overall nice condition for its age, with no chips. Some utensil wear and fading here and there of the bands around the plate edges.
I'm trying to get a value on this plate. I cannot find any website or person that has a piece of this china besides me! Thank you.
