By Waynenewman46, 17 March, 2014
Description

This is an original oil painting signed by what it looks like, P. Palma. The matting and frame work is original  this piece is in good condition. I can't find any info. On this painting or the painter. This was given to me by my Great Uncle Jay after he passed. The only markings on the back of the frame is in black, 1100. I'm in Hopes someone can help me with this, it would be nice to have a history on it when I give it to my Grand child.

Thank you,

Wayne  Newman

Re: Oil painting on canvas of a Clown in original antique frame.

I was looking at another painter here and found yours, it’s twin. Here’s the other like yours https://instappraisal.com/appraisal/oil-painting-canvas-clown-original-…
Okay, I found a print of the painting your painting is based on.

Yours is a copy of Ritter’s, either someone painting for fun or to sell as decor.
The original Julian Ritter clown like yours was called Skelter and came with another clown painting called Helter.
