Oil painting on canvas -- perhaps from Europe?

wow, tough one to make out all right! Can you post some close ups of the individual items in the painting? It's hard to make out, but the clock, for instance, looks like it might be of German influences. A closer look at the item might be able to place it better. Also check the titles on the books. Remember, these items are probably really in front of the artist when they painted it. The pottery etc. would be pretty unique then. I'd also post the individual items on those types of sites to see if they could be identified. If the clock, the dish, the pin cushion etc. all come back as from Bolivia, just as an example, you can probably make an educated guess that the painting and probably the artist is from there! Any chance you can still contact the lady who bought it? If not her, perhaps the Cleavland Museum might know what areas she was in to buy. Maybe even has others by the same artist and could therefore identify him/her to you! Garry
