oil painting--title unknown

I know the artist is itallian, but painted in France. My Grandfather bought two paintings by him, while he travelled extensively with his job. I know my Grandfather retired at an early age so I am guessing at the date of when it was painted. I know the artist was born in 1915 and died in 1995. I am in posession of a painting of a nude and my mother kept the one she preferred which is of ships. I am almost sure this is not the original frame. Any info. about artist and vaule would be most helpful.
