These oriental boxes like this were used for a number of things, jewel boxes, photo's cigars etc... instead of cedar they use camphor wood, which resists insects, rot and mold. Most of these are 20th century pieces, brought back by troops stationed in South east Asia since WW2. These tend to sell for under $50.00.
