Re: Old unmarked violin
Hello,
Your item classifies as a student grade violin, likely made in America or Germany ca. 1900 or later.
When new and in good playing order the value of the complete kit would likely have been less than $5.00, especially if sold through a mail order catalog company like Sears & Roebuck.
I would estimate a $200.00 minium expenditure for necessary cleaning / restoration / set up by a competent luthier, if there are no cracks in the top, back or rib structure.
However, even if offered for sale afterwards, you might not break even.
Today's value would be what someone would be willing to pay for it, as is.
