Description

I found an original 3 page memo (June 24, 1941) from Perry Prentice to all staff working for TIME magazine. The memo provides a great window into the operations of journalism at that time, containing info on how they knew Germany was going to declare war on Russia, the sinking of the Robin Moor and their exclusive photos of it, how they had to discard 800,000 copies of that week's edition and reprint with Stalin and Timoshenko on the cover, etc. I've done some research, but I haven't been able to find anything on any memos of the sort, although I found that TIME has published the full contents online here: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,790149,00.html

The paper is in pretty good condition. All the text is visible and untouched, but there is some discoloration around the left edges (the paper itself is blue, as it was in 1941, but ~<1/4 inch around the left edge has turned brown).

How much is this thing worth? I don't plan to sell it, but I don't want to display it in my office only to have it mysteriously disappear either.

Also, if you have any insights on how I should store it and if I could/should display it, I would be grateful.

Probably not worth a great deal of money, items like this are highly specialized collectibles that appeal to a small group of collectors. My best guess would be about $200.00
