Description I'm not sure how to tell if this is a painting or print. The frame is about 33 1/2" w x about 29" tall. Signature I believe is R Brownell McGrew. Can anyone identify this picture, signature, and anyother info would be appreciated. Thank you, Donna

Hi Donna, I also have this print. My grandmother had it in her living room over the sofa. I love it ... I love having this piece of her in my home.  It is a print by R. (Ralph) Brownell McGrew. In my search to learn more about the print I found this website:

And this wonderful comment entry!

Morning Melodies
As the daughter of the artist I have some information on this print. It was done at the request of a printer of calendar art between 1948 and 1953. Mr. McGrew sketched the piano in the lobby of the Mission Inn in Riverside, California, and my sister and I posed for the rough positions of the figures, though not the details or facial appearance. Many copies were printed, it was not a limited edition in any sense. Thus the principal lvalue that the print has is simply that many people are quite attached to it and find it charming. They have no monetary value that I am aware of.
You may find that you are interested in later prints of my father's work that reflect his interest in Navajo Indian life. It is these works for which a strong market exists, and on which his reputation rests.
Thank you for your interest.

Dear Gail MCGrew, I think that I have the original frame. My grand father inherited from a millioners northamerican who lived in Cuba on 50´s. After they pass away they left the oleo to my grandpa. So... I need some clues to know it if I in fact have the original. Thanks for all. I´am pretty sure is not a litograph
