Hello, I recently obtained a pair of unsigned miniature folk art portraits of a boy and girl and am curious to know more about them. Both measure 5 5/8" x 4 5/8" in size with the picture about 4" x 3". Both appear to be done in pen and watercolor although I cannot tell for sure if they are original or not. The children are dressed in Elizabethan (?) style clothing; the boy is holding a toy dog (?) on wheels and the girl appears to hold a bouquet of flowers. Their arms and hands appear disproportionately small compared to the rest of their bodies, which end above the knees. Both children have dark hair and very bold facial features. There is a half-circle painted above and below the figures. The colors are muted orange, browns, green, blue and white. On the back is some writing in pencil - it appears to be the letter "J" followed by a number, but I can't make it out because someone has attached a modern hanger over the top of it. The frame is black wood and there is a gold painted rim around the inner portion of the frame. I would appreciate any information that can be provided!
