PAIRPOINT SILVER LATE 1800S? SILVER? OR SILVER PLATED?

By soojia01, 14 October, 2012
Description

This item is 5 inches tall

marked

PAIRPOINT

      P

   4970

This item polished up very nicely was more grey looking and i bought it for 1$ at a garage sale

I CHECKED EBAY AND ETSY

- only saw pairpoint items that all had different markings on the bottom

Question is

-What is this thing?

-Is it silverplated?

-ia this item pre 1900s?

-Maybe what it is worth?

Re: PAIRPOINT SILVER LATE 1800S? SILVER? OR SILVER PLATED?

Your piece is silver plated, anything that is solid silver will be marked "Sterling" or it's numerical equivelent "925" ( 92.5 % pure silver) . Pairpoint operated as an original company from 1880 until 1958 . This looks like it was once part of something else, the top part missing.
