Description
This is a print not an actual painting. Artist is Paul Detlefsen and titled "The Smithy". Frame is solid wood and measures 53" X 29". Frame is 3" thick. Little metal plate is attached to bottom center of frame with artist's name and picture name. The whole thing is in pristine condition. It's not even faded. It was my Grandma's favorite picture but she died recently and my family wants me to sell it. I was going to put it on CraigsList for $20 but I don't know what's it really worth. I always thought it was so ugly who would want it? But actually the more I look at it the more I like it! It's just not my taste...but I have seen new PD prints in a contemporary frame and they look great! Anybody know what I should ask for it?

You realize of course this painting was listed in 2009 ;~) Chances are the poster is no longer reading the forum.
In regards to the piece itself, most of them were sold by Turner Wall Art in the 1960's as inexpensive Decorator pieces. We've had numerous Turner pieces through here, here's a link to those discussions:

I am interested in purchasing this print if anyone has it for sale. My mother had this in our home when i was growing up and it was lost in a house fire.
