I have been given two drastically different prices on the value of this platter or tray. Not from this site. Could someone please tell me what you think it is. And how much its worth. 15" diameter
Estimate this plate to be circa 1950's - 1970's but it is difficult to date due to any period markings.
Composition : Copper, Plating, Tibetian Silver (Note not real silver)
You can tell this piece is handwork by looking at it. The composition leads to my period and origin statements. Its is a lovely piece and was probably made for the tourist trade.
the tree of life is a symbol of a fresh start on life, positive energy, good health and a bright future. As a symbol of immortality. A tree grows old, yet it bears seeds that contain its very essence and in this way, the tree becomes immortal. As a symbol of growth and strength. This symbolism is evident in other persian art forms, even rugs.
I would value this piece from $75 - $ 120 US based on its size and origin. Markets and demand for worldly items such as this fluctuate considerably. Thus the reason you were given evaluations that had been very far appart in value. To be honest someone may tell you this piece is older and worth over $1000 US. But considering proper research, probability and ethics ... my opinion is honest and based on fact and research.
Thanks for sharing it ... PS. You may want to seal this piece in a cabinet or plastic case to protect it. Light will also cause it to tarnish.
I would like to hear about your other validations as it helps us all learn ... Thank you.
Kindest Regards ..
